Converting the White Star for use in 3D software other than Lightwave 3D and Inspire 3D This page should give you all the information you require to convert the White Star to other formats and use it in 3D packages other than Lightwave or Inspire. Feel free to email me with comments, and do email me if you make a conversion. In these pages I have detailed the exact settings I use in Lightwave to create the various surfaces and lights of the White Star. I'm afraid that I haven't explicitly specified settings for use in other software. There are now so many other packages around now that it would be impossible to give settings for all of them here. However, I have explained what the various Lightwave settings mean, and you should be able to extrapolate some meaning from the values given and translate them into whatever package you desire. Just out of interest, I have converted the White Star for use in Alias |
Wavefront Maya, and achieved fairly similar results to my Lightwave version. If
it's possible to translate Lightwave settings into the radically different Maya
system, it should be a doddle to get them into Max, Truespace or whatever else you want. |
